Do Fypon products require special tools to install?
You can use any mechanical fastener or woodworking tool on Fypon millwork you can with wood, but adhesives are important. PVC products can be attached with construction adhesive, while you’ll need a compatible adhesive for polyurethane millwork.
Do I need to acclimate Fypon products before installation?
Yes. Ideally, you should allow your piece to acclimate for ten hours before installation.
What should I use for my finish coat after installation?
You don’t need to paint Fypon’s PVC millwork products at all, but if you do you’ll need to use a paint with a light reflectance value of greater than 55%, or a low-heat absorption paint if using a dark color.
Polyurethane millwork products can be stained or painted with acrylic latex paint, exterior grade if needed. You’ll need to apply a finish coat within 90 days to satisfy the warranty conditions, however.
